CNC Swiss Machining of Brass Banjo Tuning Machine for the Musical Instrument Industry

Using a combination of our advanced, precision machining technology, including our 6-axis CNC Swiss turning center, our single-spindle screw machine, and our vertical machining center, Fairchild Auto-Mated Parts manufactures banjo tuning machines that are used to tune 5-string banjos for the musical instrument industry. Meeting high client expectations, we have been contracted to produce 5,000 to 10,000 units annually for this consumer.

Before we began manufacturing these pieces, our skilled technicians worked closely with this customer to refine their part for better manufacturability. This helped reduce costs and improve production efficiency and lead times for our client. Once our solution was approved, we then began to produce this tuning machine on an ongoing basis.

Meeting close ± .001" tolerances, we now construct these precision parts from free machining brass material. Once machined, the banjo tuners measure exactly 2.775" in length and weigh 1.20 ounces. We also engrave customer part numbers and brand logos onto the surface of each completed unit, which are then packaged into individual labeled bags and shipped to various locations within the North American market.
